PHONETIC ASYMMETRY PHENOMENON AT SURAT YOUSEF ‎

As symmetry is a phenomenon seeking to approximate different ‎phonemes, the ‎asymmetry is a phenomenon differentiating ‎between the symmetric phonemes. It is a ‎phonetic law opposite to ‎the phonic symmetric law. This process I defined as the ‎variation of ‎two of the phonemes asymmetric in articulation to another ‎phoneme to ‎reduce the muscle effort and to avoid the difficulties ‎resulting from the repletion of ‎articulating the two symmetric ‎phonemes. Therefore, it is a necessary procedure to ‎restore ‎balance and achieving the phonetic harmony for the utterance. ‎ This study defines the asymmetric phenomenon, its forms, status ‎and its effect ‎on the Arabic word and its syllabic formation using ‎Surat Yousef and making a phonetic ‎analysis conforming with the ‎modern phonetic discourse
