PHONETIC ASYMMETRY PHENOMENON AT SURAT YOUSEF
As symmetry is a phenomenon seeking to approximate different phonemes, the asymmetry is a phenomenon differentiating between the symmetric phonemes. It is a phonetic law opposite to the phonic symmetric law. This process I defined as the variation of two of the phonemes asymmetric in articulation to another phoneme to reduce the muscle effort and to avoid the difficulties resulting from the repletion of articulating the two symmetric phonemes. Therefore, it is a necessary procedure to restore balance and achieving the phonetic harmony for the utterance. This study defines the asymmetric phenomenon, its forms, status and its effect on the Arabic word and its syllabic formation using Surat Yousef and making a phonetic analysis conforming with the modern phonetic discourse
